Tutorial > Screencaps (With Windows Movie Maker) | |
Windows Movie Maker is a program in Windows XP that can be used for making screencaps (which you may need to make
animated gifs). For instructions on how to download Windows Movie Maker, click here.
1. Open Windows Movie Maker. Go to File > Import and select the video clip you wish to make screencaps of.
2. Now you should see a lot of clips split from the original video clip in the center. Let's call these mini-clips. Select
the mini-clip you want to take screencaps of by clicking on it once. You can choose a frame within that mini-clip to cap
by holding down the little triangle below the viewing screen and moving it around the seek bar.
3. Press the print screen button on top of your keyboard.
4. Paste the image with a graphics program like Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop. Select the cropping tool and crop
the image until only the video clip screencap shows. Save, and you're done!
Personally, I like screencapping this way better than with Windows Media Player or another type of video player because you
don't have to keep pausing the video clip since they are already split up for you and non-moving.
